Add a little signage

Signage is a great way of giving instructions and advice, it’s also an interesting way to express yourself. By getting a “no parking sign” to place outside your home you’re contributing to the safety of the neighbourhood and signs such as keep off the grass can also help with anti-social behaviour. But if you want your house to stand out and look aesthetically pleasing then why not add something that catches the eye? From ornate house numbers to beautifully displayed house name plaques, adding signage is good for those working with a more modest budget and you can put a sign up within a couple of hours! The possibilities, colours, styles and designs are endless so have a look!

Introduce some lighting

There’s something really magical and gorgeous about twinkling fairy lights. Especially when they’re outdoors. Adding lighting to the area around your property will certainly boost it’s kerb appeal. Subtle solar powered fairy lights can be placed in your shrubs and bushes, and you could even line your garden path with solar lamps too. If you really want to make an impression that try installing a couple of wall lights for either side of your front door. The symmetry will look incredible! Not only does lighting look good, but from a security point of view, it can also make your home safer.

Tidy the front garden

Ok, ok. So keeping the garden tidy is one of those jobs that seems to take forever, however I often find that when I’ve dedicated a few hours to it, I don’t need to tackle it again for some time. So, get the kids involved and get them a sweeping brush each. Get rid of all that debris around the garden and the paths and even the driveway. If you have gutters that need cleaning or fixing and you’re unsure of climbing a ladder – then get someone in to help you. And see about hiring a pressure washer to clean your patio, paths and driveways you won’t believe the difference it can make!

Add some flowers

You don’t need to be green fingered! Just get some tubs and pots, some bags of compost and fill them with beautiful flowers. This is a fun activity for the kids too.

Keeping your home exterior looking neat, tidy and welcoming might take a bit of effort and some upkeep but if it makes your home feel welcoming and may even increase it’s sale value. Both of those things will make your hard work worth it.
